Pass rates of 95% or higher? Crap!

I regularly see reports on colleagues' websites that they have a 95% or more chance of success.

These figures always make me laugh.

If you consider that more than 10% of all hard disks we receive have a head crash on all platters, making recovery impossible anyway, then even 90% is not feasible.

This is only possible if you have removed all hard disks in advance. screens thoroughly and only accepts the easy cases.

To be fair, I must mention that we have a success rate of approximately 75 to 80%.

We therefore accept the more difficult cases involving media damage and do everything we can to save the data. Obviously not an easy job, and we often exceed the planned budget (which we do not pass on to the customer; for us the prices on the quotations are sacrosanct), but the customer's relief when he has his data back is our best reward.
